Recruitment 24/7 has an exciting opportunity for an individual to take the next step in their career for one of our clients based in the Townsville area to provide effective leadership to their North Queensland operations as an Operations Manager.

Reporting to the Queensland Operations manager you will be responsible for driving best practice across all functions from including safety, quality, productivity, staffing, administration, contractor management, & contract profitability.

You will be responsible for contract operations in a very large area from Gladstone in the South to Cape York in the North and out to the Qld Border. Your role will be primarily to manage the current contract with the view that the successful applicant will be able to grow the business even further over a period of time.

The success of this role is dependent on the attitude and enthusiasm of the successful applicant. You will be a dynamic, engaging, hands on leader who is highly driven. Your key to success in this role will be attributed to your highly developed people leadership skills and you will possess a strong commercial acumen as well as broad experience in operations leadership roles. 

Role accountabilities include:

  • Lead and promote a Safety First culture
  • Strive for continuous business and operational improvements
  • Extensive client liaison with a continued emphasis on exceeding client KPIs and service contract expectations.
  • Understand Industrial Relations issues and implement EBA terms and conditions
  • Ensure compliance with relevant Safety and environmental regulations and legislation and Company policies.
  • Management of remote based employee and sub-contracted workforce.
  • Development and management of operational budgets, ensuring accurate monitoring and reporting of variations in expenditure or revenue and the achievement of EBIT expectations; and
  • Supporting the wider management team to build strategic customer relationships and partnerships and business development activities.

  • You have great people skills with the ability to build professional relationships both internally & externally.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, influence and performance manage staff and effectively manage the selection and development of all personnel under your control.
  • A working knowledge of the relevant industrial laws, including the OHS legislation and regulations, as well as demonstrated conflict management, negotiation and problem solving skills; and
  • Managing and resolving HR and IR issues;
  • Experience with problem solving and making decisions under pressure.
  • Customer focused mind set.
  • Financial management skills, experience and commercial acumen, including the ability to be able to prepare, interpret and or, implement complex reports, budgets and other analytical data.  
  • Understand strategic drivers of the business.
  • Tertiary qualifications within a related technical or business based discipline are desirable.
  • You have a proven track record in a similar role and that it has been supported by continuous learning in technical & management practices. 
     

It is essential that you have a current drivers licence and be able to pass a full medical including a drug test before commencement of employment with my client.
