Given the nature of the role, you will have extensive knowledge in payroll and payroll legislation and a good understanding of salary packaging options.
You will be processing an end to end selected fortnightly, monthly and International Assignee Payroll of approximately 350 people. Your duties will involve but not be limited to setting up new starters, terminations, checking all changes to employee details, handling payroll queries and reporting on a regular basis.
With excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills you will be a self-starter and a team player with the ability to work autonomously.
You will have a high level of accuracy, outstanding attention to detail and competent computer literacy – particularly in the Microsoft suite of programs.
You must have the ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure and be committed to the promotion of a culture of continuous improvement.
Regular travel to Brisbane and occasional interstate travel is a requirement of this position.
Primary Focus
To provide accurate and timely payroll processing.. This includes collation of all payroll related data from employees and related third parties.
Specific Accountabilities
End to end processing of selected Fortnightly, Monthly and International Assignee payrolls
Updating and maintaining payroll system and records
Liaising with management and staff on payroll related queries
Interpreting awards/agreements & contracts regarding overtime, training and allowances etc. Maintaining leave, training, WorkCover and overtime records
Undertaking required reporting, both internal and statutory
Payroll administration (e.g. filing, setting up new employees, etc.)
Calculation and processing of termination payments
Processing increases and calculation of back pays
Assisting Payroll Manager with month & yearend requirements, including Superannuation, Payroll Tax and Workers’ Compensation calculations and payments
Reconciling payroll related GL Accounts
Calculating Sick, Annual and LSL provisions/accruals
Documenting work flow processes
Adhere to all company policies, procedures and relevant Government regulations
Qualifications/Experience :
Sound knowledge of Australian statutory requirements as they apply on a State and National basis
Good understanding of salary packaging options and ability to address queries
Excellent written and spoken communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent numerical ability and data entry skills
A solid and functional understanding of the Hydrocarbon Award and its accurate application or demonstrated ability to quickly learn this
Ability to consistently meet deadlines and work under pressure
Ability to work effectively within a team
