Recruitment 24/7 currently has a full time vacancy with one of our major clients for a Care Services Manager in the Brisbane area.

Reporting to the Retirement and Aged Care Manager, the role will be responsible for the leadership and management of resident care, clinical governance, clinical policies, contemporary practices, care staffing models and skills mix. You must be willing to work in a fast paced environment, in addition to possessing broad clinical expertise and specialist knowledge; you must be an outstanding communicator.

The following skills, experience and qualifications are required for this position:

  • In depth knowledge of nursing practices and health care issues.
  • Experience in all aspects of Aged Care Management including clinical reviews and resident assessments.
  • Highly developed conflict resolution skills.
  • Firsthand knowledge of quality principles operating in a service industry.
  • Understanding of the Aged Care Act and Principles, ACFI and Accreditation standards.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to support clear and accurate communication with internal and external customers.
  • Can critically analyse, evaluate and provide considered, planned advice.
  • Ability to travel to facilities, functions and meetings within South East Queensland
  • Current driver licence.
  • Qualified Registered Nurse – currently registered with AHPRA
  • Post graduate qualifications desirable
  • At least 10 years’ senior management experience

Main Duties Include:

  • Develop, maintain and continually improve the organisations model of care seeking internal and external information to ensure that best practice is achieved.
  • Implement and monitor policies and procedures relating to care. Regularly review and update policies & procedures in line with industry practice, professional standards and legislation.
  • Develop, monitor and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) related to care including a range of appropriate clinical indicators.
  • Develop and continuously improve clinical documentation, tools and reports.
  • Act as a professional role model and a credible resource by demonstrating and disseminating knowledge and advanced clinical expertise in aged care nursing.
  • Ensure the Care System integrates with the Quality and Service Improvement System (SIS) and in doing so ensures that accreditation is maintained for all aged care services.
  • Conduct clinical audits as required and regularly under the structured audit program to ensure that all services adhere to Company practices and are operating within the Aged Care Quality Standards.
  • Assist Services to close identified gaps in process and procedures by mentoring, educating and monitoring progress on improvements.
  • Collaborate with the Training Manager to identify and develop appropriate training programs and packages to maintain professional competencies and practices amongst the organisations clinical and care staff. Monitor and evaluate training outcomes.
  • Ensure continuous improvement opportunities are identified and promoted as they relate specifically to clinical and care services.
  • Support Facility Managers in assessing the level of professional competence of Clinical Managers, Registered Nurses and Enrolled Nurses and provide support and opportunities for development including undertaking the direct provision of regular clinical training at each service where required.
  • Provide support and guidance to research projects to ensure that all possible innovations are considered in line with service improvement without denigration of service standards and delivery.
  • Facilitate regular clinical/care service meetings/workshops with relevant professional staff for the purpose of training, networking and the development of best practice clinical and care service initiatives.
  • Assist Facility Managers and the Operations Manager to recruit, select, engage, mentor and monitor the performance of Clinical Managers.
  • Assist Facility Management and relevant Divisional Managers to manage complaints relating to clinical and care services (including Complaints Investigation Scheme matters and Mandatory Reporting matters).
  • Work closely with the Retirement and Aged Care Manager and Operations Manager to ensure that the provision of care is optimised through the strategic management of available resources and the implementation of productivity measures. Ensure that optimised care provision is delivered to eliminate risk to residents and staff at the same time as achieving the target financial returns to the organisation.
