Senior Data Analyst

Recruitment 24/7 currently has a vacancy for an Information Technology position as a Senior Data Analyst for our Government Client based in the Brisbane CBD. This is a 4 month (18 week) contract starting on 6th July 2015.

Working in this Government Department you will be responsible for:

  • Working with various levels of the organisation to define/refine performance objectives, metrics, data sources, analytics and reports to establish baseline measures and regular assessments to identify new opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Assist the team in defining and producing high-level reports and analysis to aid in the review of performance against the program plan.
  • Provide relevant training/briefings and/or develop appropriate support material to assist the team and management in developing their skills in analysing and using performance information effectively.
  • Prepare and submit high quality project documentation, submissions, briefing notes, presentations and other correspondence as required.
  • Develop relevant systems, processes and methodologies for analysing, reshaping and presenting data and information from a variety sources to different levels of management.
  • Generate appropriate management dashboards and reports, including the utilisation of appropriate data manipulation and visualisation tools such as Microsoft Excel, Tableau, Spotfire, Survey Monkey databases and other relevant tools.
  • Liaise with data owners and subject matter experts in extracting, analysing and interpreting data/information and trends.
  • Work independently and collaboratively to deliver client-ready Powerpoint and dashboard with complex data presentation content
  • Contribute to a culture of innovation, continuous improvement and high performance within the department.

Core capabilities required

Technical – Draws on information from diverse sources and uses experience to analyse what information is important and how it should be used.  Solid analytical skills and business acumen, combined with the ability to formulate insights, present a compelling case for action, and deliver meaningful presentations of data.  Experience using enterprise-level database or data sets would be highly regarded.

Supports strategic direction – Demonstrated ability to identify and align performance measurement and evaluation activities and organisational strategy and policy. 

Achieves results – Contributes own expertise to achieve outcomes for the business unit.  Skills in problem definition, rigorous analysis, and demonstrated experience with data manipulation and visualisation tools will also be critical.

Displays personal drive and integrity – Takes personal responsibility for meeting objectives and progressing work.  Strong intellectual curiosity and a passion for achieving practical business impact leveraging data and analytics. 

Communicates with influence – Confidently present messages in a clear, concise and articulate manner.  Exceptional ability to visually present and communicate data, analyses and findings.

Supports productive working relationships – Excellent organisational and stakeholder management skills. Consults and shares information and ensures others are kept informed of issues.  Works collaboratively and operates as an effective team member. 

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Qualification in ICT
  • Previous experience in a Senior Data Analyst role
  • Previous Government experience, preferred

 

It is essential that you have a current driver’s licence, be able to pass a drug test and also a Police check before commencement of employment. The start date is ASAP.
